My Purpose

"I am the captain of a party boat of possibilities and a trusted guide through uncharted waters."

That’s my unique vision statement.

It’s the guiding principle behind my work.

And it’s one of the tools I use to help individuals and organizations stay on course and flourish.

My background as a creative marketing executive has taught me the power of operating with clear intention and purpose.

I’ve seen firsthand how even the most successful CEOs, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and entertainers wrestle with internal saboteurs. And how teams and organizations struggle when faced with murky goals, poor structure, and inefficient communication.

As a coach and consultant, I help turn obstacles into opportunities and transform strengths into superpowers.

While I work with diverse clients and groups, I am especially passionate about supporting women in leadership.

I want to motivate, elevate, and celebrate women who dare to play big—who believe, as I do, that:

  • Our government should look like us.

  • Our boardrooms should be led by us.

  • Our salaries should be equal to (or greater than) our male counterparts’.

  • Our voices should be heard.

I'm energetic, focused and a natural cheerleader.

But I'm not afraid to sit in silence with you if that's what's right for the moment.

I'm also not afraid to be direct. So I may throw out something I intuit from you, or directly challenge something that seems to be coming from your saboteurs...all in the service of evoking real and lasting transformation.

I believe in experimenting with different tools to help you deepen your commitment to your goals. I'm game to play with techniques that might unlock an important insight (even if it feels a little weird) and I'll hope you embrace the same spirit.

Finally, although I am not actually a sailor, I'm known to use colorful language from time to time. But rarely at full volume.

OK, here's even more info for those who like to dig deep...

Raised in the SF Bay Area, I was drawn to storytelling from an early age—a passion that led me to Northwestern University to explore television, theater, and communication. I balanced my time between the practical and the playful, building skills in TV production by day and performing improv by night. Eventually, I committed to the production path, landing a role with San Francisco’s top-rated morning talk show, People Are Talking. There I produced content that ranged from an in-depth interview with Walter Cronkite to an expose on teen prostitution to a fashion shows for dogs.

In the 90's, I left the talk show for a distinctly different adventure: leading television training courses for journalists in the former Soviet Union.  As a Project Manager for Internews, I was responsible for funding and managing six-week training sessions in the newly independent Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.  It was a traveling road show with no road map: American broadcasters and media professors bringing editing systems and camera packages to budding new journalists. Between trips to Russia, I fed my artistic side by running an improv group in Chicago…working on numerous feature films….and performing in the odd play here and there.

In 1994, I was recruited to produce for The Oprah Winfrey Show. With Oprah, I was responsible for generating, developing and executing all elements of the show (pitching, booking, writing, field directing, editing, budgeting, etc.). I served as producer for six years, leaving to return to San Francisco to raise my family.

I established my first consulting company, The Media Pros, focused on Marketing & Public Relations.  Clients ranged from large corporate entities to small start ups, and often included a media training component for company spokespeople.  I also continued to develop, write and direct television content for Scripps (HGTV, DIY, The Food Network), Paramount (primetime programming for Dr. Phil), Warner Brothers (The Sharon Osborne Show), and  was invited back to Harpo to oversee production of Oprah’s 20th Anniversary Series.

I transitioned to advertising making my mark on the direct-to-consumer industry, leading  production and creative operations for the world's biggest direct response marketer - Guthy|Renker. I concurrently oversaw creative for numerous brands including Proactiv, Cindy Crawford's Meaningful Beauty, Tony Robbins Ultimate Edge and more. I expanded content and sharpened strategy for Digital, Retail, Global Marketing & Customer Service, managing teams of creative directors, editors, artists and producers in multiple locations.

In 2020, I moved from large-scale leadership roles to working on select projects that fueled my passion.   I also became an ICF-certified coach.  My commitment to equity drives this work, and sense of play surrounds it all. I coach individuals and teams to improve performance and communication, with a specific focus on elevating and supporting women in leadership.

What about you? What will you do with your one wild and precious life?

Let's get started!
